Students at SIH Herrin Hospital

“It was such a great evening and we are thrilled to play a part in shaping the future careers of these bright young minds,” said Mariah Nelson, growth and development coordinator, inpatient rehabilitation.

SIH Herrin Hospital continues inspiring the next generation and building a pipeline for future leaders. The hospital hosted an open house for junior high students, inviting the kids and their families a tour of the inner workings of the hospital.

Through behind-the-scenes tours and engaging discussions, the goal was to spark curiosity and ignite passion in healthcare.

“With high school near, these students will begin considering their career paths, having the opportunity to connect with professionals across diverse fields allows for them to expand their knowledge and opens their minds to new possibilities,” said Mariah.

From job shadowing to mentorship programs, hospital leaders provided the students and their families with tools, resources and connections to explore various healthcare careers and pave the way for future success.
