For fifteen consecutive years, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago has been named the number one rehabilitation hospital in the country by US News and World Report. Through an affiliation of Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and Southern Illinois Healthcare established in 1997, the same quality of rehabilitation services are provided to the residents of southern Illinois and continues as a key part of the RIC system.
Through this affiliation, SIH has brought three rehabilitation medicine physicians to the area and created a system-wide program that includes the Acute Rehabilitation Center at Herrin Hospital plus inpatient and outpatient services at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital and Herrin Hospital. The partnership also operates Fit For Work, and Rehab Unlimited sites in Carbondale, Herrin and Anna.
