What To Do in the Event of a Heart Attack

During a heart attack research has shown that taking an aspirin early, along with other treatments EMTs and Emergency Department physicians provide, can significantly improve you chances of survival.

What to do if you experience heart attack symptoms:
  • Call 911 immediately
  • Chew a baby or 325 mg aspirin immediately
  • If you normally take daily aspirin, take an extra dose
  • Advise emergency and hospital personnel that you have taken aspirin
Always consult your doctor before taking aspirin if:
  • You are allergic to aspirin, have asthma, recurring stomach problems, ulcers or bleeding problems.
  • You are taking medicine for blood thinning, diabetes, gout or arthritis
  • You are pregnant or nursing
  • You have any questions regarding benefits, risks or side effects.
