Symptoms of COVID-19 infection may not appear immediately. These common signs and symptoms can appear anywhere from two to fourteen days after initial exposure:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Muscle aches and chills
  • Decreased sense of smell or taste
  • Sore throat

Symptoms can vary from asymptomatic (no noticeable symptoms) or very mild symptoms to very severe. Older people and those with preexisting conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes could be at higher risk with COVID-19 than an otherwise healthy person.

If you, or someone you observe, is experiencing difficulty breathing and extreme shortness of breath, bluish tint to the lips or face; or any other symptoms of a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
