Loan Forgiveness Program

Forgiveness is a great thing for anyone to practice. And if the forgiveness is attached to your student loan, it’s even better.

If you are a full-time SIH employee working in a position designated as “hard to fill”, you could be eligible for forgiveness of your student loans. These areas currently include: RN, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Pharmacist. The number of Loan forgiveness awards vary based on applications and need each year. (Sorry, but if you have received a scholarship, you are not eligible for the loan forgiveness program.)

Sound like winning the lottery? We think so, too. So don’t miss the May 1 deadline to submit an application. You need to pick up a scholarship application at the System Employment Office or download one while you are here. Be sure you check the appropriate box for Loan Forgiveness on the form. Qualifying candidates will be invited to a panel interview in the summer before awards are determined.

If your loan is forgiven, the length of your work agreement will depend on the amount you are awarded.
