About Provider

Biography

Robert Dinga, PA, is a dedicated physician assistant specializing in walk-in and urgent care at Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH). With a passion for treating patients with acute illnesses and injuries, Robert finds great satisfaction in helping people feel better quickly and efficiently.

Born and raised in Carterville, Robert began his career with SIH after graduating from the University of Illinois in 1997, starting as a retractor holder in surgery. His journey in healthcare took him back to school, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Saint Louis University in 2000. After working as a circulating nurse in the OR at Carbondale Hospital, Robert pursued further education and became a physician assistant in 2002.

Robert met his wife, Amy, while working in the OR—she was a PACU nurse. They married in 2001 and have three children: Hayden, and twins Cameron and Chase. Amy is also part of the SIH family, working as a nurse practitioner in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Known for his fast and casual style of care, Robert prioritizes efficiency and patient comfort. He understands that when patients are unwell, the last thing they want is to wait, so he strives to move them quickly through the clinic, ensuring they can return home as soon as possible.

With approximately 26 years of experience at SIH, Robert appreciates the region’s rich outdoor recreation opportunities and the quality of life Southern Illinois offers. He values the unique blend of rural charm and proximity to major cities, making it an ideal place to live and work.

Robert’s favorite part of his role at SIH is the opportunity to make a positive impact on his patients’ lives, helping them recover and get back to their daily activities swiftly.
