Adjusting to life after a stroke can be challenging—for both survivors and their families. To provide education, support, and encouragement, the SIH Brain & Spine Institute offers the Stroke Survivor Series, a free program open to all stroke survivors and caregivers, even if you are not a patient of SIH.

The series includes six monthly sessions, each focused on a different aspect of recovery:

  • January / July – Types of stroke and prevention
  • February / August – Eating, bathing, dressing, and assistive devices
  • March / September – Stroke prevention medications (patients are encouraged to bring their medication list)
  • April / October – Swallowing and speech challenges
  • May / November – Exercise for recovery, with personalized tips
  • June / December – Faith-based coping with disabilities, including inspiration from chaplains and fellow survivors

Sessions do not need to be completed in order—participants can join at any time.
