Move More, Live More
October is National Physical Therapy Month, and as the leaves begin to fall, it is a suitable time to think about staying strong, steady and active. More than one in four adults age 65 and older reports falling each year. [CDC] While falls are the leading cause of injury for adults age 65 and older, falls are preventable through improved strength, balance and mobility.
Many people assume aches, stiffness or balance concerns are simply part of aging. While our bodies change over time, losing confidence in your ability to move does not have to be part of the journey. Physical therapy can help improve strength, flexibility and balance so you can remain active and independent.
Physical therapists assist people recovering from surgery or injury and help prevent problems before they start. By identifying changes in balance, walking patterns or muscle strength, the risk of falls can be reduced. Kirk-Sanchez, N., McDonough, C., Avin, K. G., Blackwood, J., & Hanke, T. A. (2025).
