Highlights of the SIH benefit plan:
- Medical, which includes prescription drug coverage – company and employee paid.
- Dental - employee- paid.
- Vision – employee-paid.
- Basic Life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) – company paid; this coverage is automatically enrolled for full-time employees.
- Supplemental employee and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance – employee paid.
- Dependent life insurance – employee paid.
- Short-term disability insurance offered after one year of full-time service – company-paid; this coverage is automatically enrolled.
- Long-term disability insurance offered after one year of full-time service – company-paid; this coverage is automatically enrolled.
- Long-term disability buy up – an additional 10% of long-term disability coverage – employee paid.
- Flexible spending accounts (FSAs) – healthcare FSA or dependent care FSA – employee-paid.
- Voluntary plans including Group Critical Illness, Group Hospital Indemnity, Group Accident, and Group Term to Age 100 Life Insurance coverage – employee-paid.
Full and part-time employees are allowed a specified amount of time off for a death in their family.
PAS (Personal Assistance Services)
Each of us experience demands for our time and energy, both on the job and off. The key to balancing it all is having access to the right tools, resources and support. Personal Assistance Services is a free and confidential life event service that helps employees and their dependent family members with virtually any life need. This is a pre-paid benefit funded by SIH.
Earned Time Off (ETO)
A combination of vacation, holiday, personal and some sick time. Full time employees accrue 23 days of ETO their first year. The ETO accrual amount is 28 days per year for employees with tenure between 6-10 years. After 10 years, an additional ½ day a year is accrued until 33 days is reached. Eligible part-time employees earn ETO on a prorated schedule based on the number of hours worked per day.
New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after and Christmas Day.
Retirement Savings Plan (401k)
SIH Retirement Savings Plan is a retirement savings plan designed to allow eligible employees to save and invest through a voluntary salary contribution. Employees are eligible to participate in the SIH Retirement Savings Plan on the first day of the month coinciding with or following the date of employment. Employees are eligible to contribute if full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary. Employees may designate a pretax 401k contribution, Roth or a combination of the two. Currently, SIH matches 50% of an employee’s pre-tax contribution up to the first 5% of eligible compensation. Employees are eligible for this Employer Match contribution the first of the month following completion of 1,000 hours of service within 12 consecutive months commencing with the hire date and during any subsequent Plan Year.
SIH has a program to recognize its employees. After 5 years of service, employees will be invited to the Service Award event. After 10 years of service, employees will receive service award payments. The award is a sum of a per year dollar amount multiplied by the total number of years of service. The maximum payout is $900. Refer to the chart below:

SIH cultivates an environment that encourages its employees to pursue educational opportunities that can assist their personal and professional growth, as well as the needs of the system in meeting its mission. We provide a variety of in-house educational opportunities as well as a tuition assistance program for both full and part-time employees, who work at least 32 hours per pay period.
Benefit Eligibility Requirements
Regular full-time employees who work 72 hours or more per pay period are eligible for all employee and employer paid benefit plan options. Regular part-time employees who work 40-71 hours per pay period are eligible for all employee paid benefit plan options, but will pay a higher rate for medical insurance. Per diem employees who average 30 hours or more per week of actual time worked after a 12-month look-back period are eligible for medical coverage only.
Eligible family members include the employee’s spouse and/or natural, step, or foster child(ren) through the end of the calendar month in which the child(ren) turns age 26.
In general, coverage for employees and their eligible family members will begin on the first day of the month after the date of hire, provided the online enrollment is completed by the end of the month of the hire date. The new hire enrollment window is 31 days.
